Philadelphia Business Journal: The National, long talked about Old City project, finally completed
November 22, 2018“On Nov. 1, the first renters started moving into the National, a $70 million redevelopment of the former National Products Co. building at 112 N. 2nd St. in Old City.
It’s been a long time coming for the Philadelphia property, which stood vacant since 1996. It had a handful of development proposals over those years only to have it change ownership several times and nothing came of the plans. That changed in 2016 when Buccini Pollin Group of Wilmington bought the property for $9 million and moved forward with constructing a mixed-use project on the site.
Buccini Pollin partnered with AFL-CIO Building Investment Trust on the project that has 192 apartments that have rents ranging from $1,700 a month to $3,200. The design of the development includes a recreation of an orange tile facade and stainless steel “National” sign…”
