3 Tips on How To Lower Stress While Moving
June 12, 2018Moving into a new home can be one of the most exciting things that someone can do- but it can also be one of the most overwhelming at the same time. When you have what feels like thousands of boxes to move and unpack, you might start to question why you even wanted to move in the first place. Here are 3 key tips to make your move a little less overwhelming.
Tip 1: Get rid of all your junk while packing
One of the worst things that you can do while you are moving is bring all of your old junk with you and expect to find a place for them in your new home. Make sure that you are using your move as a time to get rid of all those old clothes that you haven’t worn in years, or those nick knacks you didn’t even know were in the back of your drawer. Start fresh at your new home and eliminate the stress of having to find a place for unnecessary items.
Tip 2: Get Organized
Get organized from the beginning. Do not just throw everything in a drawer and say you’ll come back to it, because you know that you won’t. You’ll feel great knowing where everything is and knowing that everything is organized and you don’t have to worry about doing it later. Make sure everything has its place, and you know where those places are. The best places to find organizers is Ikea. Ikea has everything from drawer, to under the bed, to pantry organizers. You’ll never have to wonder where anything is again!
Tip 3: Take Your Time Moving in
Moving into a new home does not need to be a one day activity. People tend to get overwhelmed when they give themselves a deadline and force themselves to move in quickly. Not giving yourself time to move in makes you just throw things anywhere and not give items a place because you’re only concerned with getting it finished. If you take your time to move in and don’t force yourself to do it in a short amount of time I guarantee you’ll feel more organized and less overwhelmed.
